Funding schemes to help insulate homes are available for more households than ever before. Take a look at the current schemes below, and ask us if you could qualify.

InstaGroup has many years of experience in applying for funding on behalf of our customers. We offer a no-obligation home energy survey, and if you qualify for funding and the installation goes ahead, the cost of the survey will be covered.

Funding schemes are frequently updated, so get in touch for the latest news on what may be on offer in your area*.

The Great British Insulation Scheme

The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) is a government scheme designed to warm up homes and bring down energy bills for more people. It will run alongside the current Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) scheme and will mostly cover installing single insulation measures such as Loft and Cavity Wall insulation.

GBIS is open to households that aren’t eligible for ECO4 to help them benefit from free or discounted energy saving measures such as insulation*. It could also cover upgrading home heating systems.

The Scheme will help to improve the energy efficiency of around 300,000 homes.

Who can apply?

People living in homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of D-G within Council Tax bands A-D in England and A-E in Scotland and Wales.

Low-income and vulnerable households living in homes with an EPC of D-G. This group could include people who are elderly, those who are vulnerable to the effects of living in a cold home, or people who are struggling to afford to heat their homes.

A household could benefit from £1,500 of funds towards improvements such as:

  • Internal and External Wall insulation

  • Loft insulation

  • Room-in-roof insulation

  • Underfloor insulation

  • Cavity Wall insulation

  • Solid floor insulation

  • Pitched roof insulation

  • Flat roof insulation

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) Scheme

The ECO4 Scheme is a government-backed scheme for low-income households who cannot afford to upgrade their homes with insulation or a more efficient heating system.

Who can apply?

Eligibility for ECO4 is based around the household receiving government benefits such as Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Universal Credit, Income Support and Child Tax Credits.

ECO4 will run alongside existing schemes like the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) and the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), helping the people who need it most to save money and energy at home.

What could ECO4 fund?

The ECO4 scheme could fund Loft insulation and Cavity Wall insulation. In some cases, an ECO grant can extend to meet the cost of installing Solid Wall insulation or upgrading an inefficient boiler or heating system.

InstaGroup has many years of experience in carrying out funded work under ECO. We can help you find out if you could apply for an ECO4 grant, and access funding on your behalf*.

Off Gas homes and the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG)

The Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) can help to fund energy saving measures such as insulation and low-carbon heating for low-income households. The scheme is focused on improving the energy efficiency of some of the coldest and leakiest homes in England, including those who cannot access gas via the mains grid (Off Gas homes).
Local councils have been awarded £630 million of grant funding to help deliver HUG.

Who can apply?

HUG is available to low-income households with hard-to-heat properties and Off Gas homes in England*.

Local Authorities will allocate funding in different ways. You need to contact your local council to see if you’re eligible.

Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF)

We’re working to prevent heat loss in some of the UK’s coldest homes through the government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF).

We install insulation along with a range of other energy efficiency measures to help reduce energy waste and cut UK carbon emissions.

To find out more about SHDF you need to get in touch with your housing provider, Housing Association, landlord or local council.
